The success I have today was not achieved overnight. I was in high school when I started working weekends as a cater-waiter for various caterers, and they were constantly asking me to help them find additional staff for their events. Even after graduating with a marketing degree from Boston University, I was still receiving requests from caterers to assist them with their staffing. My previous experience, and the high standards that I had set for myself, were the cornerstone of my first event-staffing business–Premier Party Servers–established in February 1989.
Soon after, I developed and launched Let’s Do Dinner, the first restaurant pick-up-and-delivery service on Long Island, N. Y. that expanded the community’s choices for home-delivery beyond pizza, burgers and Chinese food. In 2001, I started Modelbartenders.com., the first company of it’s kind that gives clients the opportunity to hand-select their event and promotion staff by viewing pictures of our good-looking and talented team on-line.

The seeds of the business go back to the 1960s when Abigail started a cooking school from the basement of her home. Her entrepreneurial spirit and early success drove her to quickly expand the school to a retail outlet, and few years later, her husband, Bob, sold his company to join her in launching the catering business. Their son, Jim, joined the couple in 1980 and has been running the business with Partner & Chef Alison Awerbuch since the early 2000s.
